It is with regret that after listening to the feedback received, I have decided to cancel our planned County Camp at Woodhouse Park, Avon on the 20th to 22nd September 2024. I have not taken this decision lightly but it has been based on a number of feedback comments, mainly centred on the cost of the event, where some of you thought that the amount required per person to participate is just too much to pay, even for a weekend packed full of activities, which I fully understand, especially as we are currently facing an increased cost in living.
As mentioned above, we have listened to your feedback and from this, we have decided upon an alternative event that is far more affordable and importantly, will still deliver on a number of exciting activities that will ensure our young people have a fun packed weekend. This alternative event will also take advantage of our own Scout Centre at Potterne Wick, which will reduce your transportation costs too.
This alternative event will take place during the same weekend (21st and 22nd September 2024) at Wiltshire Scout Centre and will be named as “Wiltshire Scouts Weekender”. We have agreed to waiver the camp fees for this event so all you need to pay for is the activities on offer, which will be just £10 for day visitors or £20 for those camping overnight and staying for the two days. You will be expected to cater for your own Groups/Sections during the weekend and this additional cost for this will be down to you to decide locally.
To those of you who have already committed to our now cancelled event at Woodhouse Park, Avon, and have already paid the deposit, I hope this alternative event will still be favourable to you and if you agree, your deposits will be transferred automatically to the Wiltshire Scouts Weekender event.
Please share this information to all your members and please encourage them to take part. It is hopeful that this alternative event will be more agreeable to you and it would be fantastic to see you all at this event.
