Directions to Great Yews Campsite:

From Salisbury to Odstock village:

From Salisbury take the Coombe Bissett road out of town towards Blandford, turning left towards Odstock and the Hospital at the Hospital roundabout. Carry on over the top of the hill past the Hospital and down over a few pretty bridges into Odstock village.

From Odstock to the hilltop crossroads:

You will come to a crossroads, Nunton to the left and Homington to the right. You want to go straight on, towards the Yew Tree Inn. Continue now up the hill past the pub where civilization starts to thin out. Through some leafy canopies & up a bit further you will round a couple of slow turns & then the track becomes straighter & you will see a crossroads ahead.

From crossroads to Great Yews wood:

Here you need to turn right, off the tarmac & through a gate past a couple of small houses on the right. The track becomes more pitted & treacherous from now on so do slow down & look out for farm workers and animals. Carry on down this gravel road, straight on, don't deviate into a field or something, and pretty soon the track will bend round to the right, then up a little hill past a barn on the left, down & round to the left & then you will be on the final approach! There's no turn offs so you should be ok.

From the bend left a couple of hundred yards on you will find a bend right in a clearing with a sign telling you trespassing is not allowed. You are now in Great Yews. Carry on into the wood, a badly worn track to the lower site will soon appear on your right, but you need to carry on fifty yards into a canopied area under the trees where you must park your vehicle. From there head on foot up the track & you will find the Chalet & the main camping area. Scouters should be visible somewhere around here!!
