ISSUE ONE November 2007 . Well HELLO to you who have expressed an interest in joining our fourth Scout Ski Trip to Andorra! We're pleased to welcome you all & even if you can't make the whole two weeks we hope to see you between 28th March - 13th April. . This is the first Newsletter intended to keep you updated and distribute information, forms & promotional material for Andorra 2008. It's also ON THE WEBSITE. |

. Trip Update - Send Booking & Enquiry Forms Now! . We have had a lot of interest in the trip from all over the country but we now desperately need your enquiry & booking forms in now so we can begin to book accommodation and transport. At the moment it is looking like you may get a nice apartment! Transport may go one of two ways. If we receive enough forms back in time we can book cheap flights from wherever you are to Gerona or Barcelona airports. This will be the fastest way to Andorra. The other option is to hire a coach & do a road trip from the UK through France to Andorra. This is obviously the longest way to the Pyrenees, but we've done it in 10 hours straight from the channel and is looking already to be the cheapest option.
A couple of important announcements: |
. Money - Deposits of £100 due by Christmas please . From the quoted estimate a certain amount of your Andorra 2008 fee will be deducted by us for accommodation, travel, insurance etc. but you (or your designated Group Leader) will be in charge of the rest. This means you can book your own passes allowing you to choose when & where you ski, join the group excursions, save it all up for beer, who knows, but we decided early on that this is your holiday & you should be able to decide how you can best enjoy it. We will of course help with all arrangements & bookings.
Walking, Mountaineering & Excursions . As you may have read there are some great walking in Andorra so if you don't want to ski or board there's that option instead. Alongside the walks & sightseeing we are also running several organised days out to places of interest, such as hot springs at Ax les Thermes just over the boarder into France, Andorra's main town of Andorra la Vella, the Sanctuary at Meritxell etc.
Where are we skiing? . There are two main Ski areas in Andorra, Grand Valira and Vall Nord. Both are excellent and although not as high as the Alps offer just as challenging runs for all skill levels. In fact, Grand Valira, where we'll be skiing mainly has some of the best and longest beginner runs as well as great intermediate (where I like to stay!) and fast black runs. ENQUIRY and GROUP BOOKING FORMS need to be in by the END of NOVEMBER to confirm your places. If there are more than one of you booking we need BOTH of these forms back, otherwise just the Enquiry form for yourself. |

We have had several Scouters contact us who are very experienced on snow & have offered to help teach beginners. If you are in this position & would like to help out as well please email us now & we may even be able to arrange some discount on your trip fee. |

. Food & Drink . Food & drink are the only things NOT included in your Andorra 2008 fee, so you can eat out all the time (very decadent) or use the cheap little supermarkets to buy ingredients to make your own sandwiches & evening meals. We usually do a combination of the two.
Don't forget the Explorers! . Yes, Andorra 2008 is only open to Scouting members over 18, but don't forget that many of your Explorer Scouts will turn 18 between now & March! So if any wish to come to Andorra with us, pass on this email & get them to fill in an Enquiry Form quick smart!
Don't forget your Network-age friends! . Yes, Andorra 2008 is only open to members of the Scout Association, but there's nothing to stop you bringing any friends with you that happen to be between 18 & 25 years old - just get them registered as Network in your County & pay the £25 subscription & they can come along with you - and be insured cheaply through our Scout Insurance! |

If you need any promotional items to help promote the trip locally (go on, get your friendly Networkers or Leaders along, it'll do them good!) you can download them from the website or drop us a line! We can even send you a DVD containing our Promo Film, photos, posters and all forms for £3 each (inc. p&p).
