Duke of Edinburgh Award

 

Split into three levels

Bronze (age 14 and over)

Silver (age 15 and over)

Gold (age 16 and over)

 

Split into 5 sections for each stage

  • Service (volunteering in the local community)

  • Expeditions (training for, planning and completing a journey on foot or horseback, by boat or cycle)

  • Skills (covering almost any hobby, skill or interest)

  • Physical Recreation (sport, dance and fitness)

  • Residential Project (Gold Award only) (a purposeful enterprise with people not previously known to the participant)

Each section must take a set amount of time and you will have to show that you can make progress in the activities.

 

Other information

You must do the Duke of Edinburgh award through an 'Operating Authority' (a school, club etc where the Award is run). The Savernake Explorer Unit is an ‘Operating Authority’. You will need to buy a record book pack for just over £10.00 (you need to buy a different one for each level of the Award). This contains heaps of useful information including activity log sheets; an ID card; and a 'Virtual Award Planner' CD-ROM. More information here
